Bizarre behavior by Scottsdale Police!

I doubt that the cops had any legal right to stop this guy! And as they said It was unclear if he would face criminal charges. But the cops shot out his tires and had a police guard dog attack and bite the man.

A Scottsdale police SWAT team arrested a man Monday morning after a bizarre episode in which the man barricaded himself inside his pickup truck at the scene of a Sunday night fire.

Later, investigators learned that the suspect may have a history of mental illness, according to Scottsdale Officer Dave Pubins. It was unclear if he would face criminal charges.

The incident began about 11:30 p.m. Sunday when police officers responded to a house alarm at the home in the 11000 block of East Cortez St. On arrival, they saw smoke coming from the house and called the Fire Department. Nobody was home at the time.

Officers became suspicious, however, after they discovered an excessive amount of water damage from the sprinkler system, according to a police statement Monday. Detectives decided to wait outside the empty home until daylight for someone to arrive home.

Early Monday, a 45-year-old man driving a Nissan pickup pulled into the driveway, but refused to get out of his vehicle, according to police.

Officers at that point barricaded the area and began evacuating homes in the cul-de-sac because they had noticed a handgun inside his vehicle.

The SWAT team was called in and police began negotiations to get the man to throw his weapon from the pickup.

At about 9 a.m., SWAT members shot out the tires of the truck and stormed the vehicle to pull the man from the truck. When the suspect continued to fight with officers, a police dog was deployed and the suspect was bitten on the leg. He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Later, upon contacting the owners of the home, investigators learned that the suspect was the homeowners' son.
